For example, I've had a major ant infestation lately. We killed and killed with Raid but they just kept coming back! We ended up doing a little research and found that you can develop your own ant bait where ants will take the "dessert" + a secret that the ants will take back to the queen ant and kill her. The ants can't reproduce without the queen ant, thus killing off the population.
Here's what we did in a nutshell:
- Combine 9 teaspoon of corn syrup + 1 teaspoon of boric acid. I bought the Boric acid at Ace Hardware. no problem to find.
- Take an empty contain and poke some holes near the bottom so the ants can get in and out.
- Mix up the product and pour it into the container with the holes.

If you do not feel like going out and buying a bottle of boric acid or corn syrup, you can also buy a product called Terro Liquid ant bait. This worked phenomenally with our ant infestation. It took a few days for the ant to finally die down on their own. In the meantime, it might be a serious nuance to let the ants roam free but you gotta let them take the bait back to the queen.
Super gross photo but look at the gazillon ants going for the bait! some actually OD on the stuff and never make it out :P
